Apple has issued US$1.5 billion worth of green bonds to raise money for climate-friendly initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Part of a $12bn bond sale, the green-labelled tranche\u00a0will go to develop renewable energy\u00a0and ways of conserving natural resources.<\/p>\n

The US technology giant said\u00a0independent auditors will\u00a0verify their\u00a0climate credentials.<\/p>\n

The Climate Bonds Initiative, which promotes and monitors the small but growing market for green debt finance, estimates $42bn worth was issued worldwide in 2015.<\/p>\n

Last year saw the\u00a0first offers in\u00a0China<\/a>, from wind power firm Goldwind, and India<\/a>, from Yes Bank.<\/p>\n
